FastTrack brings high speed Internet to rural areas

Challenge

As a small company in the rural community of Mancos, Colorado, Western Excelsior has no IT department. The firm’s two T1 lines and unsupported three megabyte per second (Mbps) Internet connection limited collaboration with its sister office in Georgia and corporate headquarters in Indiana.

Solution

When FastTrack Communications extended its fiber optic backbone network to bring business-class, high-speed, dedicated Internet, voice and data transport services to Mancos, it reached out to Western Excelsior and other members of the town’s business community. FastTrack worked with Western Excelsior from start to finish, problem solving and guiding the company toward options that could grow over time. FastTrack’s secure and reliable 100 Mbps dedicated, high-speed Internet connection has enabled Google collaboration, cloud-based computing, VOIP and real-time collaboration among the company’s three locations. The expansion from three to 100 Mbps occurred with no price increase.

Highlights

  • Direct fiber optic network connection
  • Upgraded from three to 100 Mbps high-speed, dedicated Internet connection
  • VOIP
  • Hosted voice service
  • Service Level Agreement

“Our FastTrack partners helped us reconfigure our communication network so that it’s a business advantage. Now we’re using technology in a whole new way – and it’s effortless. Of all the things I have to worry about, our network isn’t one of them.”
